Jambay Lhakhang is located in Central part of Bhutan at Bumthang district. It is one of the oldest temple of the country built in 7th Century by Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. The king was asked to build 108 temples known as THADHUL-YANGDHUL (temple on & across the Tibet-Bhutan border & Himalayan regions) in a single day to subdue the demons that was residing in the Himalayas.

This temple is one of the two of the 108 temples built in Bhutan. The other one is known as Kichu Lhakhang of Paro district, which was built on the same day.

Jambay Lhakhang Drub is one of the interesting and important festival of Bhutan. It is held for 4 days & it is held on courtyard of Jambay Lhakhang at Bumthang. During the festival, other than traditional mask dances, priest & laymen used to perform other two unique dances i.e. Sacred Naked Dance (Ter Cham) & Fire Blessing Dance (Mewang Cham).

This festival is very famous of sacred naked dance known as Ter Cham. This dance is usually performed at mid-night by priest & laymen at the courtyard of the temple. Another Mewang Cham (fire blessing dance) is also performed by priest & laymen at the courtyard of the temple in the evening. It is said that, those women who are infertile witness this dance, it is believed that they may bear children in future.

Punakha is a town in the Himalayas of Bhutan. It’s known for the Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress at the juncture of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. The fortress hosts the Punakha Tshechu, a religious festival featuring masked dances and music. In the surrounding Punakha Valley, temples include the fertility-focused Chimi Lhakhang and the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which has river and mountain views.
